Competitors should not enter field trials unless they are fully conversant with the current Kennel Club Limited, Field Trial ‘J’ Regulations relevant to Retrievers. These are subject to regular updates and alterations so ensure you check the Kennel Club website for updated versions.
The Kennel Club has produced a Code of best practice for Retriever field trial competitors which can be found on their website here: https://www.
All event entries are to be made on this website or by post to the Field Trial Secretary, Lee Hartis – (address is on the blank entry form).
All successful WEBSITE entries will be confirmed by email. If you do not receive email confirmation let us know or check the ENTRIES tab on the Event entered.
Field Trial 1 - 24 DOG, TWO DAY OPEN A.V. FIELD TRIAL at EMBLEHOPE AND BURNGRANGE ESTATE, NORTHUMBERLAND
13th and 14th September
Open Stakes: A stake in which dogs have opportunity to gain qualification towards the title of F.T. Champion (K Regs) and towards entry in the Championship/Champion Stake for its breed; where entry is open to all dogs of a specified breed. It may be limited to a prescribed number of runners (J4 refers), in which case this shall be decided by draw conducted in accordance with Regulation J6i ((1) and J6) so that preference is given to previous performance. Preference will be given to member’s dogs with a 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th, in 24 dog open stakes, 1st , 2nd, or 3rd, in a One day Open Stake, 1st in All Aged or Novice Stakes (J8).
Field Trial 2 - 14 DOG A.V. RETRIEVER ALL AGE TRIAL at EMBLEHOPE AND BURNGRANGE ESTATE, NORTHUMBERLAND
21st September
All Aged: J3.d(2) J(2)k & l. A Stake which is open to all dogs of a specified breed or breeds without restriction as to their age, but which may be restricted by any other conditions which may be determined by the society subject to the approval of the Board of the Kennel Club.. Preference will be given to member’s dogs who have won a Field Trial award in Open and Novice stakes (1st to 4th). In all cases members’ dogs meeting the conditions of entry will take preference in the draw.
Field Trial 3 - 16 DOG A.V. NOVICE RETRIEVER FIELD TRIAL at EMBLEHOPE AND BURNGRANGE ESTATE, NORTHUMBERLAND
25th October
Novice: A Stake confined to dogs that have not gained a place or places, which would qualify them for first preference in a draw for Open Stakes.
Field Trial 4 - 16 DOG A.V. RETRIEVER NOVICE FIELD TRIAL at EMBLEHOPE AND BURNGRANGE ESTATE, NORTHUMBERLAND
26th October
Novice: A Stake confined to dogs that have not gained a place or places, which would qualify them for first preference in a draw for Open Stakes.
